ABOUT D. B. JOHNSEN CO.

About D. B. Johnsen Co.

Since 1958 we’ve sold and serviced boilers from the same corner of Northeast Ohio — an office and warehouse in Richfield, five factory-trained service techs, and product lines we’ve represented for decades. We sell to commercial, industrial, and institutional customers, mechanical and piping contractors, and the consulting engineers who spec the job.

We rep the lines

Exclusive manufacturer relationships for this territory — factory pricing and factory backing on every quote.

We service what we sell

And plenty we didn’t. Five factory-trained techs handle any make or model, from tune-ups to retubes.

We’re not installers

Full installations run through your mechanical contractor. We do the minor piping and stand by through startup.

WHAT A REP ACTUALLY DOES

Between the factory and your boiler room

A manufacturer’s representative holds exclusive territory for a set of product lines. When you buy through us you are buying at factory pricing with factory backing — we are not marking up a distributor’s markup — and you get one local phone number instead of a support queue in another state. The lines we carry are ones we have represented for decades, which means we know their failure modes, their lead times, and which model actually suits an awkward boiler room.

The part that surprises people is the service side. We employ five factory-trained technicians and run our own parts warehouse, so the crew that sizes and sells your boiler is the crew that commissions it at startup and the crew you call when it locks out three years later. Very few reps in this trade do that, and it is the single thing we would point to if you asked what makes us different.

HOW WE WORK

Plain answers, including the unprofitable ones

We are not an installer, and we say so early rather than letting it surface halfway through a project. Full installations run through your mechanical or piping contractor; we handle the minor piping around the boiler and stand with you through startup. We also tell you when a repair beats a replacement, when a used unit is the sensible answer, and when your building sits outside the county lines our product lines cover.

Practically, that means our work splits three ways. We quote and supply new equipment across a territory reaching west to Toledo and Lima. We run field service — tune-ups, retubes, refractory, R-stamp code welding, and 24/7 emergency calls — within about a two-hour drive of Richfield. And we ship parts for any make or model, anywhere, usually the same day you call with the nameplate.
